Bird Hide
You would think this was taken near the coast. We were actually at Martin Mere WWT near Burscough in Lancashire. It was quite a changeable day with showers in the morning and beautiful sunshine come the afternoon. This is the path up to one of the bird hides. It's only accessible in the summer months as it's right in the middle of the reed beds.
Once the birds have bred, the reed beds are opened up so that you can walk around them. So even though the winter birds have gone we still try and come up at this time of the year to walk through the reeds. We still see reed buntings and plenty of insect life.
Today is our sort of anniversary. 22 years together. We should have been walking in Switzerland but those plans were cancelled this year.
We finished the day off with an Indian takeaway. Still not too keen on eating out yet.
