Morning light on the lake.
This was the view from our deck at 6.45 this morning. The first light on the lake before the sun rose over the mountains with just a hint of mist hovering over the surface.
The church is the Church of the Good Shepherd, Lake Tekapo and just beyond it you can just see a statue of a sheep dog representing the farming industry here in Mackenzie country and the bond between the farmer and his dog.
We explored this point later in the morning and then ascended Mount John (named after John Mackenzie) to view the mountains and the Lake from above. From here we could also see Lake Alexandrina, much smaller and quite a different blue.
We went down for a closer look and the water of this lake was clear and the blue just a reflection of the sky unlike the milky blue of the glacial particles suspended in Lake Tepako. A glorious day.
