We are not amused

This plaque in East Cowes commemorates a 'fight' in 1852 between a local boy and Queen Victoria's eldest son, Albert Edward.
Freddie Attrill was collecting shells on the beach when the young Prince came by and kicked over the bucket and told Freddie to clear off. Freddie then thumped the Prince.
Freddie was subsequently called to Osborne House but was in fact praised by Queen Victoria for standing up for himself. The Queen allegedly also gave him several guineas.
