Day 193/20. A very rare sight.
The three Wightlink Ferries laid up in Lymington.
Like many other things in these strange times, a sight never (we hope) to be seen again. The three Wightlink car ferries that ply the short route from Lymington - Yarmouth, Isle of Wight all together in one shot.
These small ferries can each carry up to 360 passengers and 65 cars for the short trip of less than 4 miles. Currently there is just the 1 ferry company operating this ferry service, Wightlink. The crossing operates up to 15 times each day in peak summer, with sailing durations from around 40 minutes.
Wight Light was the first of three new vessels for the Lymington – Yarmouth route. She was followed by her sisters, Wight Sky and Wight Sun.
During these Covid-19 times the route has been stopped for the past 3 months and the ferries laid up. The service is planned to resume on July 17th.
