Peacock

I don't feel much like a peacock today.  One of the reasons we moved to this area is that there is a lot of music nearby in the summer.  We are opera fans.  Last October, when bookings opened, we booked, for this coming week, 5 operas at 3 opera festivals (Garsington, Bampton and Longborough) - like a mini-opera festival.  We were going to meet up with different groups of friends, put on our glad rags (the closest I ever get to being a peacock), and enjoy wonderful music, champagne and picnics in glorious summer gardens.

Needless to say, it was all cancelled.  Each festival separately asked us to consider not asking for a full refund but to donate some of our ticket money.  So we did, we asked for 50% refunds and left the rest of the ticket money in the young musician funds (the singers are mostly at the start of their careers and would otherwise earn no money this summer) and the festival funds, in the hope that they survive for another year.  Fingers crossed!
