Nose-Tweaker/Nose-Twister
"The word ‘nasturtium’ is Latin with ‘nasus’ meaning ‘nose’ and ‘tortum’ meaning ‘twist’, referring to the mustard oil contained within the leaves." (Birds & Blooms).
I was drawn by the vibrant red color of this nasturtium, with the yellow center that beckons come inside! What an unusual name for a flower. Now that I've learned about its natural insect repellent properties, I will plant it among my tomato plants.
Have you planted nasturtiums among your vegetables?
Happy Flower Friday to all~
