Cow Green Reservoir
A mid-week day off! Well, almost a day off, but it started with a trip down to Newcastle to drop off two guitars that MrM has just repaired, and a coffee and chat with their owner. He has a permanent gazebo in the garden, just right for entertaining under present circumstances.
Then one of MrM's magical mystery tours, exploring parts of Weardale and Teesdale. We passed signs for Barnard Castle, but didn't go there as neither of us needs our eyes tested at present. A lunch stop on the moors with a view of Cross Fell and Great Dun Fell in the distance. Lots of wild flowers, including mountain pansies (extra). On to Cow Green Reservoir, where we parked and walked down to the water, but didn't have time to go to Cauldron Snout Cascade. It's on the list of places to go back to!
Finally, MrM drove us to Washington, to pick up an order of the wood that he needs to finish off the woodwork in the hall. It seems to be in short supply, with none available nearer home. Stopped for fish & chips - the first in almost 4 months - and then home via South Shields, with a walk on the pier.
Angus arrived tonight after phoning first thing this morning to inform us that he was coming to stay for a night or two, as his photography trip to the Lakes has been a wash out...
