Cheery
I do like these cheery little flowers in my tiny front garden, even if I can't remember their name! A frustrating day of trying to get several admin tasks done and for one reason or another, they either failed or took a few different attempts. This afternoon my delivery from Sainsbury's arrived without the flour and yeast I ordered - surely 4 months into lockdown the supply of these items could have been stabilised by now!!! Another cold and wet day, I even briefly thought of putting the heating on!

UK deaths up 85 to 44,602. ONS estimates 1 in 3,900 in England have Covid-19, down from 1 in 2,200 last week. PHE says confirmed cases fell 25% to w/e 5th July, and are falling in Leicester. Sky News reports early testing data was 'not fit for purpose', with double counting and no's not adding up - I still suspect reporting was driven by targets set. Follows reports of 2.5m tests 'going missing', and almost 3/4 of tests posted to individuals and care homes not being returned (care homes might be stockpiling but 1/3 home tests not sent back). Oxfam says pandemic may kill more by hunger than the virus, as 12,000 people a day could die from hunger, with hotspots of Yemen, Syria, South Sudan, Afghanistan and DR Congo.
From Sat outside performances can start and outdoor pools re-open, with beauticians, tanning shops, nail salons, tattooists opening from Monday. From Sat 25th indoor gyms, sports facilities and indoor pools can open. Boots to close 48 opticians, other stores and lose 4,000 head office and store jobs (always had a re-organisation planned) and John Lewis is closing 8 stores and losing 1,300 jobs. 1st arrest for furlough fraud of a man in the West Midlands, accused of £495,000 fraud.
