Furnace Lass

City Light

yet another change for us, malaga, marbesa and marbella last week,Aberdeen this week after a quick visit home to Furnace on Sunday and Monday.

I love this city , we've been here both in Summer and Winter and have always enjoyed our time here. Tonight 's blip is a quick opportunist blip in Union Street after we had gone out for dinner. I loved the way the stained glass window seemed to light up the wet street . The rain was lashing down at this point.

We were so relived that we had had the sense to change our travel plans and book the bus from Furnace to Glasgow, then Glasgow to Aberdeen when we saw the long range weather forecast two weeks ago. Our journey took us through snow and rain with very poor road conditions. We had a long wait at Butterbridge , the bottom of the climb up the Rest and be Thankful, all the traffic was being escorted over the Rest road . AS we approached the ceartas rock we were met by a blizzard which looked more like a " blackout" than the usual "white out". Looking down into Glen Croe the whole of the valley below was completely obscured by the blizzard which conitinued right dow to Ardgarten.
The views over Loch Lomond might have been stunning as we could just see the the white tops of the Ben but the light was so dark and dismal. By contrast Glasgow was sunny and bright and most of the way from Glasgow to Aberdeen was sunny and light.

Once out of the bus station the heavens opened and we were met with torrential rain. Welcome back to Scotland.
