A Wee Story.

I noticed that these flowers had opened yesterday so this morning I went out to get a picture or two.
The breeze was moving them about a fair bit but I thought I would give it a try anyway.
I noticed that this bloom had a darker centre than most.
As I got lower and in closer I noticed movement in the centre which turned out to be an insect trying to get out.
It was a tiny beetle (sorry - too much movement at this point for a sharp shot) no more than 2mm long.
I don't know if it had been sleeping in there or was taking advantage of the pollen - certainly the plant was taking advantage of the beetle as it could only get out of the centre after a struggle which ended up with it being covered in pollen and there seemed to a lack of pollen on the stamen in the open centres.

Another morning of food delivery - and bonuses of seeing the monsters in the flesh and the girls down south by video link.

All in all, quite an uplifting day from just a handful of wee things.
