Shipyard worker boot prints

This excellent monument to local shipyard workers (there is another facing the other way, and several more of different kinds along the three-mile walk) is part of a new harbor-side park in Richmond, about twenty minutes’ drive from Berkeley. Richmond has long been a heavy-industry, working-class community, and it’s great to find its history commemorated in this beautiful waterside walkway. Lots of locals of all races are out in the sun enjoying it these days; it seems to provide a much-needed respite from our national and international problems.
