During a lull in the weather I went for one of my usual walks along the lane then round fields.  Before lockdown very few people ever went there but since then we have seen people venturing out and continuing to the woods and very occasionally round the fields.  I think only those with very stout boots will now go beyond the lane end as it has reverted to the normal thick mud in the field. The recent dry weather had dried the fields so much that cracks had appeared and deer prints were imprinted for weeks and walking was easy at the side of the field.  Then while slithering and sliding I noticed a Meadow Brown butterfly so a quick photo before it flew away then I saw a Red Admiral which stayed long enough for a photo which was a bit better.    I looked at the sky and wondered if there was time to get home before the next deluge but discovered that a new gate had been erected so made a quick detour.  On arriving home I looked like a drowned rat but I had managed to get another butterfly for my list this year.
