The New Normal
Happy July 4th to the US members of the Blip community.
This is only the 2nd local celebration we've missed in 30 years in our little town. But this year, there was no celebration - this year's budget didn't get approved and so the town had to resort to a default budget of last year and it was rumored there wouldn't be a 4th celebration - many people were coming together to try to make at least some parts of it happen, but the COVID struck so it was a quiet day in New Boston, NH.
The paper plates and plastic utensils are because we have no kitchen water. Yesterday we noticed a serious leak. Our regular plumber was unavailable as he can't crawl on the floor under the sink anymore and his two "guys" were already out of town for the holiday weekend. I was able to locate a very nice man who came and allegedly fixed the leak and shored everything up. Well, this morning there was evidence of yet another puddle and our rescue plumber was hours away at a campground. So for now, we are grilling (Yay Logan) and using disposable dishes and flatware. We may have to use some restaurant take out too before Monday. I don't think it was poor workmanship, it seems to be coming from a whole new area. So, we're watching the fireworks on TV from Washington, DC and probably an early night.
