The postal acceptance rule

This is part of a coffin lid, which may have contained the remains of a member of the family of The Countess of Dunmore, as it is lying outside the crypt at Dunmore house.
Sadly, the crypt has been completely vandalised, and the earthly remains are goodness knows where.

For the lawyers amongst you, the name Dunmore v Alexander should be ringing bells.

For those non-lawyers, its a fascinating case and one where aristocracy the values of a bygone age were put on trial in a manner of speaking. In today’s times, it is entirely possible that the bench would find for Betty Alexander the ladies maid, rather than her more titled opponent.
