RedBack Spider
A close encounter of the worst kind!
Its web is a tangled mess, not an intricate lacy pattern like most webs, this one had spun its web underneath a spare stool thats rarely used and rarely out of its corner under the work bench, after today it will be pulled out and sprayed and dusted every week!
This one is the deadly female, the males are not quite as venomous, although since the antidote vaccine was introduced in 1956 there have been few if any deaths.
Cats and other pets however would succombe to its bite.
Mark, our middle son soon got rid of this one for us.
This is only the 2nd redback i have seen in over 38 years i must say, they seldom leave their webs, lets hope i don't see another one for another 38 years!
