When I Am an Old Woman, I Shall Wear Purple
I had a dentist appointment on this day, one that was rescheduled from back in May. I don't get out much these days, so I got really excited when it was time to get in the car and go. (Yes, how silly of me. Even happy to go to the dentist!)
So I did the dental thing and it all went fine. And for those of you who missed the seemingly neverending saga of how I broke a molar last August and have been in pursuit of a dental implant ever since, this may feel like old news. I have an appointment with the oral surgeon in about two weeks to follow up on THAT. So there will be more dental visits, for sure.
I managed to fit a few quick stops in around my afternoon's travels, including making a visit to the Arboretum's lily pond, which is splendid now, as you can see in the photo above. So many colors of the rainbow are represented, and the dragonflies are back, doing fancy maneuvers above the flowers. The purple lilies reminded me of that poem by Jenny Joseph, so here's a link to that.
It was hot, so I carried an umbrella. Our governor has mandated that we must wear masks now when leaving the house. So I wore a mask too. I imagine I was a sight to see, with my mask and my butterfly umbrella on this hot, hot sunny day.
I had in mind to visit one of the big cemeteries I adore in Boalsburg, and I did that. But I also stopped by the church that's by the graveyard, and took photos of a really lovely flower garden someone is maintaining there. You may see a photo in the extras of the daisies in the foreground and the tombstones in the background. On a summer's day, it was a beautiful place to be.
The soundtrack song for this hot summer day is for the purple flowers above. Here is Deep Purple, with Highway Star, live in 1972.
