A headachy thick day, but it's always soothing to pull a few weeds with the sun at my back and to dig a bit in the dirt, transplanting a few irises. It is a slow time in the garden, too early to tell what we may have lost in the cold snap, too early to prune some things (which will very soon turn into Too Late, and how does that happen every year?), too pointless to pull all the sourgrass, which will only come back with the first rain. I'm out there rooting around more for myself than for the garden, if that makes any sense.
