A blur of sand martins .

Another local walk along the River Darwen , the riverside  is being steadily eroded but the Sand Martins flashing by were oblivious. I tried to capture some images but they were far too Swift . I had to Swallow my disappointment and settle for a picture of the nesting burrows tunnelled into the glacial drift deposits that the river valley has been chiselled out of. Our attention  was caught by the clear banding in the soft sediment and also the two piles of rocks/pebbles which have such a different character. We stood awhile discussing the whys and wherefores of the two different rock types.
Today’s important moment was the meeting up of my daughter and daughter in law , their babies were born within 9 months of each other and will hopefully grow up to be good friends . They live  2 hours apart and so meeting up has been difficult . It was very lovely thinking of them out and about together.
Some of the special people in my life are struggling at the moment, thank goodness for the phone .
