Cardboard

Covered this event in Durham. It was a boat race.
I tried to do a bit of research before going to this event to see just what it was. I was picturing people racing tiny, electric boats in a pool.
But, oh no.
I showed up and there were a bunch of kids in a gym with cardboard boats. Giant, people-sized cardboard boats.
So I thought, okay, this is cute, they're going to push each other around in boats in the gyms.
But then the announcement was made, "To the pool!"
And sure thing, these kids raced each other in their boats in actual water. Cardboard. boats.
I was convinced they were all just going to sink (and many of the boats did). But some actually made it.
