quartet
Went with Dad and Sam to see the Heath Quartet at the Queen's hall tonight.
Had a fantastic time. Don't normally do classical but my dad's always been into it and we usually take his recommendations on board. This was really quite something.
Things I like about chamber music:
the sheer volume (and almost silence) that can come from an acoustic string instrument.
the eye contact between all the members of the quartet as if they are sharing a joke.
things I don't like:
You can't clap between movements - you just have to shuffle or cough.
We weren't allowed to take drinks into the concert - even in plastics.
Sam saw loads of folk he knew from work - customers - plus the guy on the bar works at kilderkin and quizzed him on his kilderkin hoodie. Small world.
