The Cooks River
The river has changed to a murkier darker brown colour because of all the recent rain. The river is very polluted from industrial waste that has been pumped into it over the decades. People of my vintage used to swim in it when they were kids and in the 1920s it was a popular picnic destination. It is only over the past decade that councils have made a concerted effort to re vitalise the area. Alex and Adrian are part of an organisation called mudcrabs that does a lot of native planting along the river. People do fish but you would be mad to eat anything caught from it.
