20 years ago today I left @2000AD

It’s the 20th anniversary of my final day as editor of iconic British anthology comic 2000 AD.

I was in charge for 4.5 years, seeing the weekly through the second half of the 1990s. The budget got cut 10% or more every year, the owners at the time wee more interested in Disney and Barbie, and every week felt like a battle to keep the Galaxy’s greatest comic great. But I achieved my aim of getting 2000 AD to the year 2000.

Happily, it’s still go strong 20 years later thanks to editor Matt Smith and the owners who took it over, Rebellion. Long may it continue!
