brambleblossom

Dull skies, cool temperatures, heavy rain - the kind that soaks through , wind . The perfect day for heading out into the nearby  county park, confident that we would have it all to ourselves !
Weeks of lockdown have clearly had an effect because ........ the park was really busy with dog walkers and people with small children ! You can draw your own conclusions,( small terraced houses - lively children - bored dogs - )
It was nice to tread the familiar paths bathed in all the green shades that our green land is so exceptional at devising . I took lots of green pictures, the one I’ve posted appealed because of the way the tree is bowing to dip it’s leafy fingers in the river . ( The River Darwen )which is a story of success , when I came  to Blackburn in 1982 to teach Environmental Science and Geography at one of the local high schools this river was the third most polluted in England and Wales . It now runs clean and has brown trout , king fishers  and dippers enjoying its waters . The school I first taught at waslocated on the edge of this park ( Witton Country Park ) and provided many interesting opportunities for field work , our children have played and picnicked in its many leafy corners  and now the dog runs free along its trails and  pathway. A most pleasant place to wander and ponder !
