Who's Next?

Back up at the stables today.  It really wasn't a day for riding, gusting winds and rain showers made it less than favourable, so I took cover and watched with interest as the last brood of swallow chicks were being fed by the adults.  It soon became apparent that only one chick got fed on each return.  I did wonder whether the food was being shared out equally, or whether one of the chicks took precedence. From my observations it seems the adults were scrupulous in sharing the food around.  

I did use a flash to capture this image, it was so dark in the stables that even with high ISO, the parent would have been a blur, so quickly did they fly in and leave.
