Lookout (part 3)
Had to nip to Ocean Terminal after work to get some photos done for my passport which I need to renew for my approaching holiday.
From the car park you can see this chap.
He is one of the Anthony Gormley figures (like those on Crosby Beach) and he looks out over the Leith Docks watching the comings and goings of all the boats.
There are 6 of these figures and they are placed up the Water of Leith across town. Some of them are actually positioned in the water and are used to guage the depth and how fast the river is running (although i've never been to see any of the others).
I see this fellow quite often and am always struck by how poignant he is especially as he is at the end of a rickety old bit of jetty that obviously isn't used anymore.
He looks like he's climed over there and is standing at the end contemplating jumping off into the water.
Thankfully i don't feel like joining him today, not with howling gale and rain/sleet battering down out there anyway.
