Bee Thyme ... again

Flower Friday: Thyme, accessorised by honey bee

The Thyme has loved the weather this summer.  I don't think I can recall quite such a carpet of flowers as we've been having recently.  Fortunately the honey bees like it too.  I don't know what the honey that they make would taste like - but I wouldn't mind trying it....

I can only visit Dad in the garden of his care home, and I have to book an appointment to do so.  As a result the weather plays a big part in trying to decide when to book.  The last two days have been too hot to have an 89 year old with advancing Parkinson's disease outside, even under a large shade.  Tomorrow it is due to rain (well, this would have been the Glastonbury weekend), so this afternoon was my best bet.

He was pleased to see me, but there's no doubt that he's getting more and more confused.  Today he was burbling on about a "girlfriend", (which he also did when I saw him at the start of the week).  I think that this is someone else in the care home with him, it is definitely not his wife of the last 3 years, he seemed quite clear about that.  Lord knows what is going on inside that head of his, but it is nice that he has at least one friend.

Given that there are very few male residents it is almost inevitable that any friends will be "girl" friends as he would describe them. These are the advantages (or disadvantages) of longevity as a male.  You are considerably outnumbered by the female of the species the longer you live!
