Whitecross House

Day 95 of COVID-19 UK lockdown.

Another lovely day with temperature in South Wales (UK) about 24C but thunderstorms forecast after yesterday's scorcher.  Mrs BB wanted to do the River Wye swim again so we headed back to Monmouth, where after dropping her 1.25 miles upstream of the rowing club, I had a look for something that caught my eye.

Whitecross House Monmouth town centre is a striking listed building dating from1710. The link reveals it was The Portcullis Inn (1740-1820). It looks like even then pubs were prone to closing permanently.

The news today is we have a completion date to move of the 15 July 2020, and Monmouth will be one of our local towns, less than ten minutes away.
