Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

The harvest begins

I blipped my first blackcurrant last week, but now the crop is really developing, I usually get a batch of blackcurrant jelly out of the two bushes so fingers crossed. I was really surprised though to look up and spot the first raspberry turning red.
It's been a lovely day today, wall to wall sunshine but with a slight breeze which made it more manageable than yesterday. Sadly though thunderstorms are forecast for tomorrow.
Colin had to go to church to let some representatives of companies looking to replace our boiler and hopefully our heating system this morning, so I did little around the house. I walked to the shop for some rolls and we had lunch when he got back.
One of our friends from church stopped in for tea in the garden this afternoon so I made a batch of scones. It was lovely to catch up.
It's Thursday today so evening prayer via Zoom then dinner in the garden. After dinner, Colin played bridge. I went out for a walk and then took it easy when I got back.
I saw four different butterflies in the garden today, a painted lady, a red admiral, a small tortoiseshell and one of the whites - none sat still long enough to have their portrait taken though!!
I'm a member of a couple of local and wider Facebook groups and they have been really friendly and supportive throughout the past months but recently I have seen more and more examples of sniping taking place. Somebody asking quite innocently for help and instead being subjected to a tirade from somebody whose views disagree. It does make me sad, it's so unnecessary and completely against the spirit of the group. If it happened to me I think I would just leave the group which is very sad. I know you shouldn't give in to bullying but I certainly wouldn't want to risk making myself vulnerable to public censure again.
Thank goodness for blip.

Keep safe everybody and thank you for this wonderful community.
