Fathers' Day

I was going to start this post by saying that I reckon I'm a tricky person to buy for when it comes to presents but then I wondered whether that's what everyone thinks. Anyway, I was surprised and delighted to receive some flowers through the post this morning as a Fathers' Day present. I'm always amazed that 'flat packed' flowers can turn out so well (although that may be a testament to the Minx's arranging skills, too).

The loveliest surprise of the day was that the miniMinx braved the train from Chorley to see me, which really touched me. Plus she brought chocolates! (Maybe I am easy to buy for!)

The funniest surprise of the day took place after the Minx and miniMinx had set off home. Charlie, Dan, Abi, and I were sat in the garden, sheltering from the occasional drizzle in the new gazebo, just chatting. At some point, Dan and Abi disappeared and Charlie was busy on her phone, and that was fine; I was enjoying my day.

And then there was a Zoom call. Charlie was with me in the garden but Dan, Abi, Milly,  Izzy, and Hannah were all on the call, dressed up as me! They'd all drawn on fake beards and were wearing things like running outfits, work clothes, and my dressing gown. Man, it was funny!

To be honest, I do find it a bit awkward being the centre of attention but once we'd passed the Fathers' Day bit, it was lovely being on a chat with all of them. Of course, I'd rather have been with them in person but given the circumstances, I think we did very well.
