Bowermans Nose

Its been a very hot day today and I was out with friends on Dartmoor.  Two of us met at Haytor where we briefly stopped for a quick photo and watched with delight as a Yellowhammer landed on some gorse infant of us.  We then drove on to Hound Tor and walked across to Bowermans Nose where this was taken for the Wide Wednesday challenge 'Mono' hosted by Freyjad a colour version is in extras.  As we clambered across the rocks towards the Bowermans Nose I saw that someone was having his photo taken half way up the rock so we decided to eat our lunch first.  Fortunately there were no mishaps and they had gone when we walked down to it.

We had a quick walk back to the cars and then a trip onto Heathercombe Gardens where we met up with another friend.  So good to be out, socially distanced of course, with friends.  We chatted as we wandered through the shaded woodlands and then out into a meadow where we spotted two different types of Orchid.  One was the Greater Butterfly Orchid which I hadn't seen before, see extras.  An exciting day out on what has been billed as the hottest day so far.
