A view from St Swithin

A tramp in the Gramps

This is a view from Tullos Hill a rather modest peak ( around 200m) but with fantastic views of the Granite city and the harbour. This area along with the nearby Kincorth hill is known locally as “ the Gramps” as both hills are the most easterly extension of the Grampians mountain range.

I hadn’t been up here in years but we got a fantastic day for it and the visit was much improved by some information boards, and evidence of lots of tree planting. I thus learnt that there are 3 bronze aged burial cairns on the hill ( we saw one) , and that during WW2 an anti aircraft battery was sighted on the hill and later a prisoner of war camp. A morning well spent.
