Looking forward

Today we had a look around the town of Christchurch, terribly devastated by an earthquake two years ago this month.

Lots of very sad sights not least the Cathedral, but this cheery shopping mall inventively made of colourful containers gives hope to the future and renewal of the city.

We then headed down to the Banks Peninsula and Akaroa. What a beautiful place. Noticeably the grassland is very yellow and undoubtedly they need rain - which arrived later in the afternoon! We had a nice seafood lunch before returning to our hotel this evening where we felt a small tremor!
