Stage 1 - Portrait painting

I have just begun a portrait of my Mum referenced from a photo of her at age 21 in 1927 - so here it is ... just the initial charcoal sketch on the  24"W x 32" tall canvas.  It has a long way to go of course. It's nice to be in portrait mode again and to paint a tribute to my beautiful Mum.
