Wasp moth
Euchromia horsfieldi
I first saw this moth July last year at the grove location. Unfortunately I screwed up the one click that the moth allowed me, it suffered severe camera shake and was unusable for blip. I did keep the image for my records as it was so unusual and seeing as this is only the second sighting, a bit on the rare side.
The markings are quite striking with the metallic blue stripes and rich yellow, almost orange wing flashes. Wasp moths are generally clear winged, but not in this case, although it is in the same family of moths.
I am so happy to get another chance at this beautiful creature and it was a no contest for the blip position.
