Herring Gull

You take them forgranted - indeed many people activley dislike them - but they are splendid birds when you stop and look at an adult in breeding plumage such as this one.
They certainly rule the seaweed pile, seeing off Common and Black-headed Gulls showing only deference to the Great Black-backed Bruisers. Always worth a look.
