Longwell
This is the Longwell in the village. It sits at the bottom of our lane & serves many purposes: originally it was a water trough where people used to bring their animals (namely horses) to drink. Today though its used more for Mr Mutley's private & personal bath post muddy walks, but also runners splash their faces with it, men drive up with brushes and wash their cars with it, birds drink from it and last but by no means least it's used for initiation ceremonies for all newbies to the village: you're not deemed a local 'til you've been properly dunked!
In the spring time everyone who lives around it here cleans it out, its a huge event....
Despite all, still the crystal clear spring water pours. I love it...
