Day Boats Ahoy!
Restrictions have been lifted for the Day Boat hire companies.
It's nice to see them out again - families enjoying a day out on the canal in the heart of nature.
We're still not allowed to go anywhere for an overnighter so we may as well stay put and just enjoy walking along the towpath.
We may go for a day trip but I find that a bit of a tease.
I've started a third book! This one seems a bit easier to get into (The White Marriage by Charlotte Bingham) The last two are without a doubt good books but when I can't remember what I'd read the night before and had to keep rereading some pages I got fed up. I don't seem to have the concentration just now for anything other than 'light reading'.
I just ordered 4 books too. I ended up having to get 3 of them from Amazon as they are interlaced - not really a trilogy - and otherwise I would have had to order from 3 different book sellers and pay postage for each. Has anyone read any Fiona Valpy? There were 100s of good reader reviews.
It's worrying about all these Covid outbreaks in meat factories. They think it might be to do with the cold temperatures but they are not certain. It seems strange as there must be other products that are processed and stored in cold factories but as far as we know they haven't got it. Think vegetables and dairy products. Supermarkets have cold storage.
We don't eat meat but if I did I'd be worrying about whether the virus could be actually on the meat as well as the workers.
We were discussing this morning about when the Scottish border would open to people coming up from England and whether it would be safe for us to visit our Grandchildren.
Frank is more worried about going up there than I am because he has Polymyalgia Rheumatica and is on Steroids for that.
I am worried too but we are probably just as at risk here if we walk along the towpath or go to a shop which we are going to have to start doing - probably this week. I worry that if we don't see them all before they go to school then the risk will be higher as they will be mixing with other kids and teachers. Also if another wave comes we could end up not seeing them this year at all!
As for distancing going down to 1 meter - well, we may as well not bother distancing at all! Though I know it's an impossible postion for many businesses to be in. I feel so sorry for those pub, restuarant and cafe owners who must be in dire straits by now. How on earth will they cope? Dammed Corona virus!!! :-[
It's a dull but mainly dry, breezy day today, not unpleasant.
I got the paints out and told Frank we would have an arty-farty day. I gave up rather too quickly but once Frank gets going he perseveres till he's finished a picture. I need to get some better paint brushes.
I've carried on doing my exercises on the boat but it's not easy due to lack of floorspace.
We're going walkies with Bella May now...otherwise I might fall asleep!
Take care my friends.
:-)
