Waterside Living

After a relaxing morning (well for her ... I still found some chores to do!) and lunch with Mum, I made my way home.  I meant to stop at the stop of Reigate Hill for a quick walk, but it was heaving, with cars parked everywhere, including on yellow lines, so drove on.

My next port of call was more successful, I managed (just) to get parked in the small car park next to the River Wey and the Wey Navigations near Newark Lock.  I walked along the tow path to Walsham Gates, opened in 1653, with a weir in full flight.  The navigations bypass the weir through set of lock gates (flood gates) and Victorian lock keeper's cottage which represent the oldest turf-sided lock on the navigations.
