Win some, lose some

Pirates reunited on the beach for a lovely afternoon. There were far more people about.

Two disabled parking bays in the port near to the beach. One taken. One free but not really with access as such as they are digging up the road there. Mum insists (!) I stop there so I can just help her to the wall, park in the half space there is and then get her down to the beach. Otherwise I would have to leave her on her own until I found a space ten minutes walk away up the hill. I leave a note in the window of the van explaining I have a disabled person with me, but no blue sticker plus my phone number.

200 euro fine on our return.

Sort of fair enough, as we have no blue badge, though the wheelchair was completely visible in the van.

Mum and Lou insist I go straight to the police.
No disabled access because the ramp is full of bottles ???
Mum goes up the stairs with her stick and glares at them.
No they can’t do anything. I have to fill in a form and explain.
I ask how could a 91 year old lady who had been inside all this time get a blue sticker please kind sir.

Medical records and a visit to the council.

So that’s the council offices that she couldn’t have been to until tomorrow then...

Oh, it is just one of those things.... I should not have listened to mum and left her there on the wall for 20 minutes in the heat while I found somewhere to park. Or maybe I should just have kept her at home all day.

Anyway, what’s 200 euros when you have a wheelchair?

Ugh.

Despite this, we had a lovely (oblivious to fine) afternoon and all and sundry gathered to catch the midsummer sunset at the lighthouse. I just turned the video on as I was trying to hobble mum from the van to where Lou was. I thought I’d just missed it. But then Whallop! The / A green flash sunset! Lou didn’t see it it as she was whooping up the gazing crowd, but was ecstatic to see the 3 second video I have. This photo is 3 seconds before all that happened!
Never a dull moment with the pirates. I am loving this time with them.

Here’s to breaking some more rules ( only parking type, not health ones...)
