I know this is a poor photo of an unspectacular sunset but I like to record the sun rising and setting around the summer equinox. Yesterday the day near Edinburgh was 1 second longer than today and had the shortest night. The summer solstice is usually on June 21 although this year it was on June 20th shortly before midnight but next year will be June 21st as it is in many parts of the world today. On the winter solstice in December there will be 10 hours 39 minutes less daylight here whereas parts of the very far north of Europe will have 24 hours less daylight compared with the sun never setting at all today.
