A new residence for the bluebird
We have had two bluebird nesting boxes in our garden for the last two years, but overly aggressive house sparrows had moved in and taken possession of both of them. This week Bob went to Walmart, purchased a new bluebird nesting box, and installed it near the back of the garden. For good measure, I filled a nearby feeder with dried mealworms, a favorite treat of bluebirds. Today is the first day the new nest was ready for occupancy, and as we sat on our back patio at dusk this evening, I was delighted to see this little bluebird perch on the top of the nesting box and survey the neighborhood. Will he bring a mate and move in? Only time will tell, but we're crossing our fingers!
