Lunch anyone?
We have to pack in the experiences this week. S had his writing group via Skype in the morning; I used the time doing a deep clean of the kitchen. Then we set off for our favourite beach, Cantarrijan. They have implemented the summer system now -- you can't drive down to the beach any more, instead you have to park at the top and take a 16-seater minibus down, at 2 euros for the return trip. No physical distancing on the bus, but everyone was wearing masks and hand gel was provided.
We decided to ring the changes and had lunch at the "other" restaurant, La Bola Marina. What a pleasant surprise! We'd eaten there before a couple of years ago and been underwhelmed. The starters were superb. This is their interpretation of millefeuille of mango and goat's cheese, with goat's cheese ice cream (yes, really. It was lovely). We shared it alongside tataki of salmon with seaweed and dill vinaigrette. Then we shared a plate of fritura de pesca(d)o Malaga style, also very good.
I briefly ventured into the sea ... when S asked why I hadn't stayed longer, I replied, "It was too wet." Big waves! After that I lay on the beach and listened to a couple of podcast episodes. The new phones are great ... the battery lasts for four days without recharging.
We finally left at 7 p.m. We had a date at home ... lapsed blipper Bundle had invited us to a jazz gig laid on by her local club (a couple of thousand kilometres from us). We do miss live music, and while this wasn't exactly live, it worked very well. The musicians sat on a sofa and it was like being in the same room with them. Let's hear it for Alice Zawadski and Rob Luft! Yes, we clapped between numbers. And they did a number of songs in Spanish, including a setting of a poem by Lorca, Es Verdad.
All in all a very satisfactory day. ¡ Buenas noches !
