Juneteenth

Lots of activities around the country to commemorate the June 19 emancipation announcement for slaves in Texas in 1865 — a full two years after it happened everywhere else. It has been an unofficial holiday for many years but it is taking on new significance in light of the BLM movement.

This picture is from the main building of the World Bank (an international development agency where I worked for 34 Years). Glad to see it take a stand too (it’s located a block away from the White House).

Trump, in his infinite assholery, had planned one of his rallies today before being pressured into rescheduling it because of how tone deaf it looked (of course he is now taking credit for having ‘discovered’ that day and brought it to Americans...)
