John Rattray

Went up to the allotment while it was still very damp and misty - extracted the shallots and planted out some cavalo nero. Got back in time to watch a talk on statistics (and who you can trust with them) courtesy of the OU. Very good.

The wildflower dunes around the statue of John Rattray are really doing well (think they're meant to be a replica of the 1st hole at the original course on the Links). I wasn't sure I'd remembered his name correctly, so went to the information sheet to check. It has been updated with the info that extensive research into his life has revealed no connection of any kind with the slave trade. 

Interesting that he only escaped with his life after Culloden due to the intervention of a golfing chum.....
