Abstract indeed

Today's rather abstract blip is the rear of something that has broken and I had to buy a replacement rather urgently.

Clues:
It is mostly made of plastic
It was made for France though it may work in countries, but not the UK
It's 8x8 cm
The front is something you would touch several times per day
You find at least one in most rooms - though often in the UK you won't find one in the bathroom

It's odd enough on it's own so I've left it as is, but I did add the film effect surround, which I thought was fun!
