The day after the night before

Last night around 8pm we had a terrific thunderstorm and deluge of rain. We are at the bottom of a cul de sac which is on a slight hill. All the water from the main road flowed straight down our road and swept like a torrent into our drive and formed a river which flowed into our garage. Everything on the garage floor was floating around and the outside fridge and freezer shorted.The back garden was totally underwater. We went out to try and stop the flow of water with a long piece of 4 x4 wood and it did help slightly. The water was up to mid calf...we obviously got drenched.
This morning we are clearing up the mud and debris from the garden and garage but it will take a few days for everything to dry out.
My blip doesn't really show how bad it was but the mud swirling around the border gives a slight impression. 
To fulfil the criteria of taking the photos on the day, I have downloaded a photo from my phone to the computer and photographed that today to show the back garden flood! (the colours aren't very good).
