Alexanders

I first heard of Alexanders earlier this year and immediately searched for plants in NZ. They are described as a culinary herb that was introduced to Britain by the Romans, and they have a flavour that is between celery and parsley. I ordered a couple, but had to wait because the plants were not quite ready for selling. Then we had the lockdown, which meant they couldn’t be despatched. Then the problem of overworked couriers extended the problem, because they needed to be delivered quickly. Today, after more than three months they arrived.

Big pots have been prepared for them in the greenhouse, but it was too wet and cold to go out to plant them. I do hope our winter won’t be too much for them.
