Mahonia

Every year I marvel at how attractive these berries are as they change from pale green to purple. They also have this delicate bloom on them rather than being hard and shiny..
This shrub was given to me 20 years ago by a neighbour who was worried about the berries as she had small grandchildren who visited frequently. I'm glad she gave it to me - it thrives on neglect, grows slowly, is evergreen and has lovely yellow flowers in the early spring - and this year I have remembered the name of it twice without needing to ask ! ;-)
