Thanks for all your suggestions yesterday for what the road sign meaning was,  Kept me amused for ages and all much better that the real solution which I believe is a warning to drivers of pedestrtians on the road due to ther being no sidewalk/footpath..

The ladies in today's blip offered to move but I said I would prefer them to stay where they  were.
