Loakin (Bear) Creek

I hiked The Flume Trail at Tsutswecw Provincial Park yesterday. 100 years ago there was a massive log flume there but today all that remains are several
V shaped wedges. When the mill closed in Chase in 1926, the flume was dismantled and used to build homes and barns in the area. That’s early day repurposing! The upper Trail has been cleaned up after January’s “stormageddon” and I am once again thankful to the Trail Alliance for their volunteerism. The lower Trail was completed flooded by the Adams River so there will more work in the future for the volunteers once the water subsides.
